Community Power in New York

Integrating renewable electricity and local solar – you can do both at the same time.

Large electricity buying groups for cities, towns, and villages. By pooling the buying power of homes and small businesses, communities can provide cleaner electricity choices for customers and stronger consumer protections.

In NY, these programs are commonly known as community choice aggregation (CCA).

(Today CCAs account for around a quarter of the voluntary New York State renewable electricity purchases—demonstrating their important role in accelerating the transition.)

Local Solar

Solar that is simple, and available to all. Community solar offers a win-win solution for consumers: savings on their electricity bills, without the need to own or install panels.

  • Local solar subscriptions for municipalities, businesses, and residents
  • Local solar enrollment campaigns in partnership with the municipality, for a solar project in or near your community
  • Solar project development on local land or buildings

Accelerating the Transition

New York State is a national leader in the transition to clean energy. However, despite public and private investment, the transition to renewable energy has been slow [info pop-up]. Community Power helps us move from utility-controlled fossil fuels to community-centered renewable electricity, accelerating the transition to cleaner energy.
